Default Current options for OEM light weight wheels; 99 C2

Hello,

I'm considering a '99 C2 that has the solid 18" Turbo Twist wheels. What other OEM wheels are available? I' would like to go with a lighter set.

Thanks in advance!

5-spoke Carrera II wheels are what you're after.

Hello vitaminC,

Are those the MY02 wheels?

Thanks for your reply!

I believe that is correct. Bonus: they are also the best looking wheel for the narrow body 996.

Thanks! I am considering those as well as the 18" GT3 wheels.

Im split between the 996 GT3 and Carrera II wheels, on one hand the GT3 look the best IMO and you can run 235/295 tyres.

On the other keeping the Carrera IIs make the car factory original... My car has an aerokit II on it as well.

Best of luck which ever you go with!

I have three sets of MY02 Carrera wheels that I use on my track car. They are light, strong and fairly easy to find.

Carrera III also come in 18" but slightly different offset, but many have used them with no problems.

I had Carrera IIIs for awhile, the fronts need spaces or they sit too far until the front wheel wells. Rear were perfect.

I hate the offset of the 5 spoke wheels... I am running 285 Rears and still think I could fit a 10mm spacer. Other than that, I only have them due to weight savings over twists.

I agree even the stock Carrera IIs could do with spacers.

Anyone have weight figures on Carrera IIs vs GT3 mk2?

GT3 wheels are some of the heaviest OEM 996 wheels made.

If you're ok with 19's the Lobster Forks are pretty darn light. People either love em or hate em.

Weight info on GT3 MK2:

Rear with tyres: 25.62 kgs (56.5 pounds)
Front with tyres: 21.77 kgs (48 pounds)

Rear without tyres: 12.92 kgs (28.5 pounds)
Front without tyres: 11.43 kgs (25.2 pounds)

Info came from here:

http://sharkwerks.com/porsche/996-ca...40-wheels.html

Don't have any figures for Carrera IIs but i'd be interested in knowing if anyone did have them. I remember seeing a matrix of wheel weights somewhere.
