Ya about half a cm. It had made the big push to go right in position and then I checked to make sure the top and bottom were an equal distance out.

I've pulled the tranny from DD and installed it and the car run great.

The speculation brings out great information as always. but like DT said, we'll find out soon enough if it was my inexperience or not.

Turned out to be a bent synchro ring. I have no idea what that is. But they repaired it and sent it back at no charge.
