5.0 mustang run-in in mexico
2013-14 5.0 GT badged mustang didn't want to let me pass him. I knew he had me covered , but I hit it anyway, ran up to the bottom of 4th and pulled on him the whole time. We went again with him right behind me at a stop light. On the 2nd run I figured he would be on his game, we went to 4th gear again and he couldn't pull on me. I have no doubt a 420 hp GT mustang can take my old 3.4 911. But on this day it didn't happen. Those drives into Mexico are fun..

I agree completely. I am in no way trying to say I have a ringer or something. I fully expected the guy to March right past me the 2nd time. Maybe he missed a gear both times or something, I don't know. I was for sure " given her all she's got captain". I expect a new 5.0 to be somewhere between my 911 and my 440rwhp Z06.

Well one time on a track this summer. *Cough*. I came up behind a shelby mustang. It was newer, guessing 2015. I was behind him for a little bit, and gave him a quick look inside. We came to a pretty straight part and we're doing 27ish. I was in first waiting. As soon as he goes I nail it almost immediately hit second and to my surprise I am on him tight I hear him shift,i hit third WOT. I'm still right thereup too~90 and he's started to walk away, we'll run. But for 7-9 second I was everything he could handle.
Editor's note,i think he didn't see my little cab as a threat and didn't use full rpm/gear to start with. And even though I went on him, again I don't think he was fully committed. So I had the jump. Was lots of fun on that back country road * cough* I mean track.

Thats damn near a second faster than the n/a 996. If you are claiming that your n/a is as fast then your friend needs to learn how to drive.

Performance figures from our test car’s initial visit to the track (after its break-in period) were strong and slightly quicker than our long-term 2013 Mustang GT’s, with a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.3 seconds and a quarter-mile pass of 12.9 at 112 mph.
