Very early 1998 C2 purchase....Share yours as well!
Just wanted to share I am happy as a cat buying this IMHO beautiful Jan 1998 C2. It is a manual, with original sportseats, hollow 18" alloys, M030, M220 (LSD), M222. Artic Silver with full leather interior. Fully documented and well maintained.

Just wanted to thank all here on Rennlist for the great (and silly!) stuff written, very helpful to make my choice.
I could have picked up a 997 or a 996 4S as well but decided to go with a really early & pure C2. I think it has beautiful clean lines and hope to enjoy it for many years to come.
It had a clutch replacement at Porsche so no IMS replacement. RMS was replaced 5 years ago. Although I am not sure if it is really necessary I decided to take no risk (she is after all almost 20 years old) so it will get a LN IMS replacement + RMS + AOS. Will pick it up after winter in March somewhere.

Very nice example. The only things I would add to it would be Litronic headlights and a short shifter. plus have the car extensively detailed.

Really nice car...the older the 996 the more I appreciate them. Maybe we are at a point in time where the survivors are showing the cars' true quality...and the occasional failures are finally being put in perspective.

If I am reading the option sticker correctly, the 929th 996 produced. Someone will correct me I am certain.
I would not be in a hurry to replace the IMS bearing- you very well may be replacing it with an inferior part.
Congratulations! Welcome! Enjoy!

Yep, I have been weighing pros and cons on replacing that IMS bearing but in the end you don't know until you check. If it is done well and a quality ceramic open bearing (like LN) used then I guess it is OK. Opinions welcome btw!
