Call Flat 6 to verify its legit and then buy the crap out of that thing! If that is really a Raby rebuild, 30k is a good price to have a motor you won't have to worry about.

30k for a 1999 996 with limited options.
It will be interesting what price the car actually sell for.

Thats what I'm thinking. I wonder why they used the retro fit vs The Solution on a complete rebuild?

Seeing as it's a '99, I think the price is a bit low. Everyone knows those are the best of the breed.

This engine was built several years ago, probably in 2010, or prior, and that was before I had released the IMS Solution for use in all builds- it was still an unadvertised option that was only offered to some purchasers, based on availability more than anything. These units were hand made in the early days.

Seems to me snapping this up and getting the Solution slapped into it by a certified installer (if not the Man himself) would given a motor that will outlast the rest of the car by a considerable amount without the wait (and risk of failing pre-qual) of buying a typical one and sending it off to F6I.
I know the idea of a $30k 99 seems crazy when looking at the price of other 99s, but I think it's a good deal and would be jumping at if I was in the market. By the numbers alone Jake has hinted at the Stage 1 being around $20k and if you figure 7k for a good roller that leaves you about $3k "in the hole". That seems like a good deal to me to circumvent the long lead time, but I tend to want things yesterday

If it was in my budget it would have been bought yesterday...

curious to see how much it sells for, I personally think you never get back any money you put in any upgrades. Good thing the car has low mileage and the 99' are now the hot ones. But if I had to buy one i would certainly buy a similar mileage car on a 996.2 car ;0 link below
