Default FABSPEED MOTORSPORT | 996 Carrera ECU Tuning - No ECU Removal Required

As many of you may already know, we have a world class tuner here in house that does phenomenal work unleashing the performance potential hidden in the factory software. In addition to the Porsche platform he specializes in tuning near every make and model vehicle on the market. Whether it be a 500whp Honda Civic or a twin turbo 2000+whp Gallardo...we do it all.

We now offer an alternative tuning method for most vehicles equipped with ECU's that traditionally required bench flashing, and that includes the 996 Carreras. No longer do you need to remove your ECU and mail it in for a tune, and no need to send your ECU in to return to stock - simply use the MyGenius to flash back, then to your Fabspeed ECU Tune again at any point. Tuning for multiple fuel levels (race fuel included) and other makes/models are available!

The MyGenius device interfaces with the OBD-II port on your Porsche and your computer to complete the tuning process, which is as follows:

-Read stock data on vehicle via OBD-II port with MyGenius
-Interface MyGenius with software on your computer and send in data to Fabspeed Motorsport via email
-We use this data along with information you provide about your vehicle to write a tune for your specific setup and email back your custom tune in 1-2 business days
-Write the Fabspeed ECU Tune to your MyGenius, then to the vehicle with the MyGenius
-Enjoy your increased performance!

Fabspeed ECU tuning via the MyGenius is currently available for the following 996 models (more will become available as time goes on):

-996 Carrera (All Models) - $895

I will be adding dyno graphs to the thread as I start getting them from our tuner

For all tuning questions/inquires please feel free to give me a call/text/email/PM any time.

Any orders through the website please reference myself (John Gaydos) during checkout so it will come across my desk to follow through on. I'd be thrilled to work with you and have you join the growing Fabspeed community

This is interesting. I wonder how it compares with what I have been looking at: http://www.cobbtuning.com/landingpage/porsche/

And it appears that earlier model 996 non-turbos (like mine) are not supported by Cobb. So maybe this is a better alternative. Just wondering....

Why are all these Pcar tuners so damn expensive when you can buy a Diablo tuner for like 299

Would this work on a 99 Drive by wire 996?

For the same reason that a lot of aftermarket parts are more expensive for a Porsche than another vehicle. Because they can be..

I bought a tune in May and haven't sent in my ECU yet. Can we modify my order or am I out of luck?

Its ridiculous how people that own these cars are ripped off or Porsche taxed. Same goes for the mechanics fixing them 1/2 the time its just crazy.

Make the tuner $399 with the file and sell 10x as many as the overpriced crap. We had Dimsport write all the firmware for their rapid bike III and RBR for modifying the BRP 1200 snowmobile engine. Great company.

Momoney,
The 99 is driven by cable. Not wire.

That's capitalism, unfortunately!

A set of ARP head studs for a small-block Chevy is $107 give or take. A set of ARP head studs for a Porsche is $612.

The Cobb Accessport is fantastic and we are an authorized dealer and certified protuner for Cobb. However, Cobb does not support pre-991 Carrera models which would typically mean you are stuck pulling the ECU out of the vehicle and sending it out for a tune. Our tunes using MyGenius allow you to receive and upload a file onto your ECU without pulling it from the car, although does not have the featured like live data display/recording that the Cobb Accessport has.

Technically yes, we have done it before. Although the M5 Motronic ECU in the 99' Carreras are a bit difficult to work with sometimes, same with the early 986.1 Boxsters that share the same ECU. We prefer to have those ones in house if you're local

A lot of tuners require removal of the ECU to send to the tuner, ours does not. Our in house tuner has been specializing in tuning these cars and most every other for well over a decade, he is world class. The quality, reliability, and results of our tunes are top notch.

I am contemplating an ECU tune and stumbled across this thread. I don't see any dyno charts posted yet though. Any chance at getting those posted up?
