If you have money to burn, that's fine, otherwise you can save a ton by working on the car yourself. Many things that might seem daunting are in fact easy. Other things that might seem easy are far from it. Search the DIY's to decide.

I've got this exact problem on my '02 996. Driver's side window goes up and down fully and normally via the window control, but the slight tick down on opening the door and closing the door is not working.

To be clear, if I open the door from the inside or outside does not matter, the slight tick down does not happen. However, if I gently push the window down, then close the door, the slight tick up DOES happen. So, whatever mechanism causes the slight tick down from inside or outside seems to be the culprit.

FYI... Part was 275.00 labor.. 250.00

They're jacking you up on the part price...They're paying $125. The labor is close - obviously much cheaper (i.e. $0) if you do it yourself, but that's your call - it's a 1 hr. job, but the devil is in the details - if you trust the mechanic all's good.

I had mine replaced recently.....just about the same cost. I'm Learning to be a little more of an adventurist and tackle some of these little maintenance projects.
