Steering Wheel Squeak on 2002 996 Cabriolet.
I recently purchased a 2002 Porsche 911 996 Cabriolet. When I turn the steering wheel slowly to the right and left when the car is stopped and also turning a corner, I notice a squeaking sound coming from the steering wheel. I bounced both the left and right front end of the car when it is stopped and no squeaking or any other sound occurred. I also notice squeaking on occasion from the clutch pedal. Otherwise, the car runs very well. I know these are not big issues, but for me, they are annoying. I also own a 1986 911 and a 1987 944 Turbo and never encountered any squeaking from the steering wheel. Anybody have any suggestions on fixing these issues.
Thanks,
Zach

Zach, try unlocking the steering wheel and pulling it out towards you slightly and see if it still squeaks when turn a slow speeds. Regarding the clutch pedal noise, before starting the car, push the clutch pedal in about 10 times. I had the same problem and reading some articles on the subject, I found the clutch assist tends to also squeak over time especially if the car sits for long periods of time. "Massaging" it regularly have my clutch pedal noise to go away.

Also stick your head in the footwell and turn the wheel a little , it may be where the steering shaft goes into the rack at the bottom , there are some linkages there , mine was squeaking there but until u listened in the footwell I could have sworn it was coming from the steering wheel!!

Unfortunately, pulling out the steering wheel didn't help. I will today check and see if the problem is in the footwell area of the steering wheel as Noz1974 suggests. What was the fix for you Noz1974?
