Sorry for your loss but glad no one was hurt. Most likely a total loss.

Ive seen worse damage on cars and the fix has been perfect but it takes a very dedicated team with clear motivation to get something like that fixed and left in excellent condition. Unfortunately the value of the car probably won't be enough motivation for someone to take that on. The time I saw a similar but worse damaged car fixed was with a 997.2 Turbo S that at the time was the current generation of porsche so fixing it and selling the car was worth the effort for the money to be made.

If you are in the US and it ends up not being a total loss by the insurance company, make sure you research diminished value in your state. Google it. A low mileage Porsche with no prior history is a candidate in certain states.

Obvious damage to hood, fender, door, rear fender, windshield, mirror, rocker panel, a pillar. Not so obvious, radiator, headlight, etc. Looks like toast to me. Too bad it happened. Hopefully your insurance will make you whole again.

The bent a-pillar says total loss to me. As Ahsai said, it can be fixed, but the insurance won't do it so you'd have to decide how much that particular car is worth to you.

All in I'd say you are probably looking at $20k of work easy.

Cars is toast, repair costs will exceed car value. That frame took a beating. Engine and several interior components will help recoup some money. Glad he is ok, and keep us posted on updates.

Looking at the road sign in the background (and the architecture) I'm guessing you're not in the US? So I guess the answer depends a bit on repair costs, expertise and values in your part of the world. But as others have said, fixing that car will be a labour of love (and deep pockets), not one that makes economic sense.

Good to hear no one was hurt. Although if that was my kid, not being hurt in the accident would be the least of his concerns ...

I'd be very surprised if there's an insurance company anywhere in the world that wouldn't consider that car a total loss - The car's value just doesn't justify repairing it. That doesn't mean it can't be fixed - just that the Ins. Co. doesn't believe it's worth fixing... It all depends on the Company's policies concerning "disposal" on whether you can retain/re-acquire from them. Good luck

If that car was new or old, I'd bet any insurance would total it.

First, I'm glad to hear your son is okay.

Second, if it's not a total loss then I would fight the insurance company to make it one. It's hard to tell from the pic but it does look like the A pillar is bent and it also looks like part of the chassis inside the rocker is bent inward pretty badly. I can't imagine the repair costs not exceeding the value of the car.

That might be fixable given someone skilled enough and motivated enough to fix it, but in the context of the situation no.

Either the other driver's insurance company or your insurance company will declare the car a total loss.

Really given the location of the impact and the apparent severity of the impact you should hope the car is declared a total loss.

Your job will be to gather paperwork/records to show how lovingly you took care of the car so help make a case for a higher settlement vs. one just based on age and miles, albeit low miles.

Also, stress with the low miles how still pristine the exterior was and the interior, seats, carpets, etc. Even though the car has a few years on it the car was pretty much "like new".

And the settlement should reflect this.

I think the best bet here is to find a roller that needs an engine and do a transplant. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one with same color interior and transfer as much as you can from your original car.

However, if insurance company totals the car, they will take ownership and likely dispose via their methods.

Tough situation. Glad nobody was hurt. Cars can be replaced.
