There are some other options but none are inexpensive. You are going to pay over $1,000 to get rid of that orange. I guess you have to decide if that's where you want to put $1,000 or more likely $1,500. The only people who give a sheet about orange blinkers are Porsche heads, and they probably don't think much of your car anyway and clear headlights won't change that.
I'm assuming you went with a '99 because you wanted a 911 and the price was a reasonable entry point. If that's the case I'd wait a little longer, there may be much better places to spend $1,500. But hey it's your car and your call. Enjoy it.

FYI: there is no difference between the 986 and 996 headlights. None.
There also isn't a "Boxster part #" for the headlights as the Boxster headlights have a "996" part number.

Some 996's have them, some 986's do. It seems completely random, but they all have a "996" part #
Here is a picture showing the silver piece (obviously it goes under the inner shroud, not on top as pictured - I was experimenting with different variations).
The oblique grooves on the silver bit combine with the longitudinal grooves on the inner shroud to create the cross hatch look.

Can't tell from the outside. If it is factory installed litronic there is a bunch of wiring so the lights autolevel. If it is the factory "upgrade" done after at the dealer there is also some extra wiring and a box installed inside the fenderwell visible if you remove the frunk carpeting. It does not autolevel like the factory installed, but IIRC it changes the angle of the low beams up 1.5 degrees when the high beams are activated. If there is no extra wiring they will work fine, just won't angle up when the high beams activated.

I'm thinking seriously about an offer on a '99 with halogens....it has the yellowed aged/burned spots on the inner lens from the bulbs. Not sure how badly this affects performance (if at all) or if the aged/burn spots will continue to grow, so was considering Litronic upgrade. Thanks for the info here.

This thread describes with clarity how to intall litronics with the autoleveling function.
