Just opened this thread up and saw those pics and had to go back a few pages to see what happened.

Glad to hear you are okay though.

A big plus to 996 track cars is that used body parts are cheep.

Agreed, huge plus! Especially the parts shared with a boxster which is most of the front end. I've been watching some of the threads on operating and repairing a Cup car and man we've got it good.

Hey there!! Most impressive build!! Have you considered the Electronic Water Pumps? Removes all heat soak issues and you just dial in the temp you want and it stays there - regardless of how hard you're pushing. Plus, the pump keeps circulating coolant after switching off - this is a very good thing! EWP's are being fitted to all the new generation BMW and Mercedes engines and have been used in drag racing for many years... I'm going to fit one shortly. Also can reward up to 10kw of power!

Thanks!

Interesting. Since cooling isn't an issue I probably won't go this direction anytime soon but it's good to know it's out there. And am very skeptical of manufacturer HP increase claims, especially on an M96.

But something I think that is definitely worth checking out is an electronic power steering pump. Unfortunately, nobody that I've been able to find makes a serpentine belt for PS delete, AC delete and underdrive pulley.

I hear you on manufacturers claims - they're usually overstated... However, it would stand to reason that one less parasitic drive removed will introduce some power - how much is the question.

I'm interested in the heat-soak removal too. I know that after some spirited track days the engine is considerably hot and when turned off the water flow stops, so I think this must be an advantage in engine protection etc...

I'll go ahead with my install and report back!!

Take care...
