Default My 911 Was Rear Ended Friday Night

So I'm sitting at a red light at a complete stop behind about a dozen other cars that are stopped and BAM. Clobbered by a Kia Amante. Hopefully her insurance (Progressive) won't give me a hard time about having it repaired correctly. If so, I'll have my insurance fix my car and go after them.

Even though my car is lowered, the girl that hit me was on her brakes hard, so the front end dove and only hit my bumper, bumperettes, and exhaust. So far as I can tell there is no heavy damage hidden beneath. We'll see!

Why would her insurance pay for your damage? thats not how auto insurance works.

I don't know about the state of MS but in the Republic of TX, if you are 'at fault', then your insurance company pays for the repair of the victim's damage. I don't care if it's another car, or a bike, or a house, airplane, boat, person, etc.

Sorry to hear about it. Hope you don't have any serious damage that will cause it to be totaled.

It's ok, we've all been wrong in our lives at least once or twice.

Yes, but "you" cannot make a claim with the other persons insurance, "you" have nothing to do with that. You make a claim with your insurance, they will fix your car according to the coverage "you" have, then they will settle the costs with the other persons insurance company. You are totally out of the loop with that and have no say in it. And lets say the other person is at fault, and you don't have collision on your car, then your car is getting fixed out of your pocket, insurance isn't going to pay out a dime. Yours or theirs.

If fault is clear often you work directly with the at fault driver's insurance.

The more you know.....

Sometimes the person at fault calls their company and says hey, I screwed up. They submit a claim. The company then calls you and works directly with you.

Time for new aftermarket exhaust and rear bumper with bumperette delete.

Honestly though, glad to see that you're okay. Car's don't matter.

Some states allow you to claim diminished value. Make sure you make a claim for it if your state allows it.
