Default New to me 996 C4 Now what do I do?

Well been here lurking looking around reading as much as I can. I took the plunge and got my first 996 C4, currently on the way here to me in Miami, FL.

As I prepare for the arrival what should my first steps be when the car arrives? Can someone recommend a good clean mechanic who works and understand these 996’s here in Miami.

I had a very good mechanic in the past who worked on my 74 -911/ 85.5 -944 / 74 -914. Those all got sold a few years ago so I’ve been out of the loop for a bit of time.

I’m currently on a upgrade buying frenzy can you guys recommend the best upgrades? This will not be daily driver purely pleasure, track days with PCA.

I'll post pics as soon I can.

Thanks
Jaime

Was a PREpurchase inspection done? If not, 1st thing I suggest you do is a POSTpurchase inspection. Then, use the findings as your TO-DO list. Do the maintenance/wear-and-tear items first before modding.

Initial To-Do list:
1. Change all fluids
2. Put in a magnetic drain plug if there isn't one
3. Get a really good alignment

Drive the car like you stole it and learn about how it handles and how you handle it. The best upgrade is the nut behind the wheel.

Eventual To-Do list:
1. Fister D/Gundo Hack for Mufflers. Best $300 you can spend, IMO.
2. Tarrett camber plates or GT3 lower control arms; if you are planning on doing track days/AX you will burn through the outside fronts on the C4. Ask me how I know.

Svoboda Motorsport in Doral is the place to go around here.

The Fister Sport Muffler mod was one of the best things that I did to my 996. Highly recommended!

Shifter upgrade ... 997 is cost effective, GT3 or Numeric are more expensive. All have shorter throw & more positive action than the stock 996 part.

I'd also recommend the LN Engineering spin-on oil filter adapter.
