Once you take it out of the car?
Better question, how high does the car need to be in order to sneak it out, and how much does it weigh?

You stand it up on end and put it where ever you want. If you are doing this on jack stands, kinda sounds like it, you will want 20" - 24" to drop it keeping in mind you need something underneath to support it while it is lowered. I'm guessing it's about 100-125 lbs.

Thought it would weigh a lot more than that.

I read through the process on Pelican, seems straight forward enough but either I didn't read closely enough or they didn't mention the weight and height. But yes, they did mention that special bolt.
Did you end up stripping it?

The tranny that I'm referencing to was from my 996. The 05 C2S I believe had the larger bearing since it is 3.8....errr was a 3.8. The car came to me with the IMS Solution.

Unless you like lying on the ground and doing a reach around for the top bolt, PM me and we can talk about doing the R&R out in the country on my lift. We can have it on the ground in under 2 hours and be consuming adult beverages for the rest of the day.

If you have kids, don't store it upright. Last thing you need is to be knocked over and crack. I keep mine on a vehicle wheel dolly (the ones you put under the tires of a project car to move it around).
