Default Just replaced the coils.

They were pretty grodey. I guess they should have been, they had 175K miles on them. I knew there was some problems going when I got the car washed and it started misbehaving. The last rain in the LA area and the P-car wasn't having any of it. Check engine, etc., Dried up (of course it doesn't rain in LA anyway) and it ran OK. My indy went to the UK on vacation but when he came back, he put new coils and plugs.

What a difference. The car runs like a rocket. My indy also did my sunroof motor as well so the P-car is a very happy. The good news is that I was able to take her home over the Angeles Crest Highway from Newport Beach. It really makes driving worth it.

Yeah picked our's up yesterday after plug, coils, and tubes. On the short trip home it seemed happier, but I'll see next week when I drive it to the office.

No micro cracks going on here, canyons would be a better description of 3 of them no idea how we hadn't seen noticeable issues until last week.

I wanted to DIY it, but she's afraid of me hurting her baby so I was vetoed I made the best of it though and got the cylinders scoped while the plugs were out. No signs of scoring at the top end of the cylinders

Would the lack of top performance have shown up on a Durametric? Or was the only indication a roughness when water was introduced? Or a visual inspection?

I noticed an improvement when I installed new plugs without changing the coils.
