Been here since July. Seems that all auto websites are mostly visited by folks with issues. So I decided long ago to trust my instincts when buying a car and living with it no matter what. Same for the 996. Having a ball so far and I hope it continues. Time will tell.

Yeah if I had spent a week here before I bought mine, I might not have ever bought one!

Nice article OP... thank you for sharing. The only part I would question is the author's claim that the 996 shares nothing with the 993. That's not totally true. Simple example would be the 4-spoke steering wheel which is an identical part between the two cars. Some would also say that the intermediate shaft in the 996 was derived from the 993. I'm sure there are other parts shared, but I get the author's point that the 996 was totally new 911.

The 996 came equipped with round tires, just like the 993. How uninspired.

Yep, those crazy Germans probably used the same front badge... hell, the engine layout is the same as the 993. Prolly reused those airbags. Lawd, I am starting to be pedantic. Chanel's ways are rubbin' off! Run for the hills!

This might have been posted here already but if so it's buried.

Piggybacking this on too, which I enjoyed:
