Default MPH LCD digits stopped working

Crossposted at RennTech but figured I would ask here as well.

In an effort to fix some blown warning lights, I removed the dash gauge cluster. I fixed the lights and reassembled everything and suddenly my left and center LCDs were no longer working. These were not lights that I had replaced.

I disassembled it all again and swapped the bulb for the right LCD with the center LCD bulb and reassembled. Again, only the right LCD was working. If nothing else this verified that the bulb in the center LCD was not blown.

I then took the car out for a drive and gave the gauge cluster a whack on the top of the unit. This caused the left LCD to start working again (along with the right LCD), but the center is still broken.

Does anyone have any insight as to what could cause this type of behavior?

Thanks!

I'd hit all of the connectors with contact cleaner. Any time percussive maintenance makes a difference, dodgy connections are likely involved.

That's because the flux capacitor took over.

I would say something is not hooked up correctly, time to disassemble and recheck the lit bulbs.

Since you are probably now knowledgeable about the setup of the odometer, can you tell me if each of the digits had its own light? I think one of my digits is no longer functioning.
Any insight into how to fix this?
Thanks.

There is one 1.5w bulb for each LCD screen. 3 LCDs = 3 bulbs. At least that's how it is in my '99.

I adjusted the contacts on one of the bulbs and got it to come back to life. It appears that the other bulb is blown. It must have died during the initial disassembly process.

I'll be replacing all three bulbs for good measure.
