Recently found my 996. Car didn't come with an owner's manual and I can't figure out how the intermittent wipers are supposed to come on. I tried searching, but could only find threads on troubleshooting a non-working system. Car is a '99. Wiper stalk seems to only have 4 positions: fast continuous, slow continuous, off, and spray (in order from top to bottom). I would assume that the off position doubles as the intermittent, except the rheostat **** doesn't seem to have a detent on either end.

then spin the dial to adjust speed. Even the fastest speed still has a long pause.

Thanks! I had initially mistaken the fluid spray for the bottom position. I see now that it actually isn't.

It can be confusing when it's not in its natural state of broken. Eventually, you will kick the relay loose and it'll stop working.
