I'd spend a few bucks, bring the car back to more of a classic look...lose the wing, front bumper and rims, maybe even the guages, def the steering wheel, tints, red-strip floor mats, and then I'd call Larry Kosilla to buff out the paint and then ask a higher price.
+1 and change back to the original Fuch wheels...... but that's just me

I have seriously never been a fan of the Fuch wheel. As a kid growing up in the eighties seeing a Porsche was rare. But when I saw one it was magic. Except and I remember it to this day, the wheels just never appealed to me always dreamed of getting a Porsche but not with those wheels. Just my opinion!

I have given some thought to the whole take her back to her classic look... But then she just becomes like every other 84-88 3.2. I like knowing she has some uniqueness Bet there isn't another one like her out there. The mats i may replace, maybe!

And I do want to say thank you guys for all your feedback!

Ezdriver's advice in post #13 was perfect.

I found the ad to be pretty bombastic. I work in real estate and the two phrases I absolutely hate to hear are "I don't need to sell" and "I'm not giving it away", both of which are present in your ad. Sellers who use that jargon often times have unrealistic price expectation and/or are difficult to deal with.

I'm really not familiar with the air cooled market to say whether the price is appropriate or not but you are definitely coming across as a difficult seller. You can screen potential buyers' level of seriousness after they contact you.

Beautiful car! Should sell itself - if you want to sell it. The AD really says otherwise (IMO)... I understand the desire to cut through the bs and dealing with low-ballers, but, "it comes with the territory" so to speak. Keep it (the AD) simple and to the point and do your "pre-screening" when you speak to prospective buyers prior to showing the car. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I think referring to a car as "her" or "she" is one of the worst automotive nuances around. It's a car.....anyone who buys this car will be familiar with the model enough to not need a detailed personal account of you're "feelings" about a car.

LOL - bipolar - my wife this morning said

your AD reads like this:

Car for sale, don't call me, i won't sell it to you.

Yes i am willing to sell it, just not willing to deal with too much BS in the process, and will only sell it for the right price. I am going to soften the message later today a little bit... these suggestions have been great.

Do i wan to sell it, i never want to sell any pcar.... if i had the garage space and unlimited funds I would keep everyone I ever owned. Wiling to sell and want to sell totally different concepts.... been toying around with owning a 964 for a while so we will see what happens.

Okay, you asked...we're trying to sell this thing right?
- I would remove the disclaimer, let's just start off with... "She is a brilliant example of a nearly perfect Air Cooled model ready to be driven." As a buyer that's a much better "Hi" than "I'm not looking for a debate on price." I completely understand the motivation for your disclaimer, but from a strictly marketing standpoint, it doesn't help sell the product.
- I want to see an engine pic. I don't know why. For me I'm not satisfied until I see the engine. I want to see that engine!!

Otherwise the rest of the ad looks good to me. GLWS

I can relate as I've sold quite a few cars in the past but never a Porsche. Based on all the typical Porsche buyer's quirks, I think I would go crazy at times fielding various questions/concerns/complaints only potential Porsche buyers could come up with. Fortunately, you are selling an older air cooled Porsche model, or else selling a 996 in this way wouldn't work as well.

same here. I went back and forth with a guy for 2 weeks, agreed in price and when it came time to get the car, he changed his mind and kept the car. very frustrating.

Have you also considered putting the car on consignment in addition to your private ad (which will also direct buyers to the dealer lot)?

Best of luck selling......if you do go ahead with it
