OBD Error Code P0300 random cylinder misfire
I haven't driven the car yet this year. Stored it all winter, and when I started it up
, I got the P0300 code with check engine light. I had no check engine light when I put the car in storage last fall. Drove it a few miles with no misfires.
What has me puzzled is that its not specific to any cylider, its random. If it were specific then I could change a plug or coil.
Anyone else have a random misfire? Possible causes?
thx

In the future when you get it right again, take it on the run and run it up to normal temps 2 or 3 times a week year round and I am sure you would prevent this from happening. You must know that a car standing idle for months is gonna kick up about being awakened.

I agree with Hurdi. Cars & airplanes & other complicated mechanical things don't respond well to just sitting around dormant for months at a time. It may just need to be exercised. If it still acts up, I'd start with looking at the coils. Lots of reports of cracked coils due to the age of these cars.

It's unlikely that a bunch of coil packs cracked during storage. They crack from heat cycles, not from just sitting around, and even a cracked coil pack can work fine until it gets wet. If it's almost empty, fill it up with fresh fuel to dilute what's already in the tank and see if it perks up.

The gas is old, last October. During the winter. I start it every couple months, I don't live where its being stored. I cleared the code, will top up with fresh gas, and lets see what happens. I took it for a spin after clearing the code and its not misfiring.

Old gas, sitting still for a while...crap settles out and doesn't burn so good.
Keep your OBD scanner handy - if the car is logging intermittent faults, you can see pending codes before the MIL light comes on...
