Default Napa Gold 1042 filter - what OE equivalent filter?

Hi all,

I'd like to get an LN spin-on adapter but we don't have napa auto or autozone here in Ireland to get the 1042 filter.

Does anyone know an OE equivalent filter that I could buy from a dealer here?

Thanks

Not sure what they sell in Ireland. I use a mobile M1 107. In stock at all the local places.

Concur. First, the LN Oil Filter Adapter kit will come with a filter so you are good for the first oil/filter change. Second, I also use the M1 107, but there are a variety of filters available by cross reference.

The same filter is used on 1997-2006 Corvettes so you can look it up that way.

I had a look at some of the brands I recognise but don't see a vehicle model that's sold here, we don't have corvettes either lol.
There must be an equivalent from someone other than GM or ford?

You can get a couple of those equivalent brands (Bosch, Fram, Mann) at your local Halfords. I lived in Ireland for a couple of years and always saw those brands in stock. Then again, I suppose it also has to do with how well-stocked your local store is. I frequented the one in Sligo and Longford as I lived in Carrick-on-Shannon, fwiw.

The some Holdens and the some Vaxhauls (sp) come with the GM 5.7L engines. Same as the Corvettes.

I've been searching alright but nothing showing up. We don't have holdens here and vauxhall (opel in Ireland) don't sell the vxr or larger engine cars.
I'll check with a motor factors next week.

It's a bit sad really that the majority of cars on Irish roads are diesel 4 cylinder and less than 2 litres

Can't blame the public. With the road tax based on the size of your engine, having a lawn mower makes perfect sense. I was screwed when I brought over a 3.2 (M3), a 2.8 (A4) and a supercharged 1.8 (318ti) that I barely got through the NCT.

Neil....
I had the same problem sourcing a suitable local (Australian) oil filter for the LN spin on.
I did a lot of digging but most alternatives are US sourced. You have a couple of options,

1) Napa Gold 1042 - original as you already know.
2) Wix 51042.
3) K&N HP/1007.
4) Ryco Z160HE - this is the local Australian product which I have used for the last 2 oil changes.

I went to the individual filter manufacturer's websites and used their cross reference lists using the above filter numbers to locate the local Ryco filter.
Best of luck....

That's because of all the Hooks & Crooks!
