Default Horseshoe interchangability

Have a friend who recently purchased an '01 Turbo and wants to install an iPad Mini. The '01s have a 3 piece radio surround. Are the later 1 piece horseshoes interchangeable with the earlier models? If so, would they need to also install the cup holders ( I believe the '01 doesn't have them)? Or has anyone done the iPad install with the 3 piece?

I am about to do the same thing to my '01 Turbo. I too asked about swapping the horseshoe for a later one. Someone mentioned that you might have to also swap the duct behind the horseshoes for the A/C.

You should be able to put the iPad in the 01 as well as the 02. Have you researched it here, and over on 6speed?

Somebody just retrofitted a .2 cup holder to a .1 car and posted how to do this just a few weeks ago. This included instructions on how to modify the duct.

Here is the thread.....should help:

I would love to see how the back end of the ducts meet up. Ugly or not, it looks like their width is different, as well as their shape....any shots of those?

I was hoping that was possible. Do you happen to have any pics you can post?

Thanks Lang! A picture of the inside of your horseshoe to see how you modified. What needs to be cut away. I'm assuming the rest is very similar to later models?

Slopeslider:
If you PM me an email address, I'll send you some pictures of my installation.
