Xenon headlight components into Non-xenon housing?
hi everyone,
i currently have Xenon lights on my 1999 996 from the factory.
im wondering if its possible to switch the xenon components into a non-xenon headlight housing. does anyone know?
i would like to change mine out from clear to amber....and itll be a lot cheaper to find the amber headlights in non-xenon and, if possible, just switchover my headlight components.
thanks
alvin

It would probably be easier and cheaper to find HID bulbs in the color temperature that you want and simply change the bulbs. Have you tried this route? I would think that something like a 3,000K color temperature would suit your needs very well.
The halogen headlights on MK I 996 cars are reflector assemblies as opposed to the projectors used for the optional HID lights. I think this would be problematic for your original plan.

Your best bet would be to do a universal projector conversion instead.
Factory mk1 xenons have a full motor assembly that rotates the entire upper projector assembly up and down based on the leveling sensors found in the lower control arm.
I believe Pelican Parts is now distributing conversion kit that member 9eightsix created here as one option.
