2000 Carrera Wind noise
I have a strange noise (kind of a whistle) coming from the right side of the dash/winshield piilar or who knows. It occurs at between 70 and 85 mph on up, it changes depending on head wind or cross wind. It is not the speed buzzer/fresh air recirculation flap/ door seal/side window seal/sun roof and its not electrical. I am thinking its a winshield seal, has anybody ran into this? It driving me crazy.

FPB111, thanks for the reply, did you mean a search on this forum or a Google search? Before I posted this I have typed everything I could think of in the search box on Rennlist and couldn't find anything similar.

"... the most likely problem is the front hood. If the front hood is not level or just a tiny bit below the front bumper then you will get some wind noise.Try some painters tape across that seam. There is also TSB 6420 for windshield trim noise."

I'm trying to find the fix for the windshield seal whistle. I think it was the trim around the windshield and the TSB 6420 fixed it also.
Does it sound like this? ~ 4-5 seconds in

Yes it is high pitched like that and varies with speed and wind speed. With the wind it will start at 80 and into the wind it can start as low as 60. Pulled the pillar cover off by the antenna booster and then tried to tape up the seals. I thought I had it once but its back.

Taped the front hood and the sides, also the mirror seems. The noise never changed. I was looking at the weather strip on the windshield and found the lower edge by the cover for the wiper arms was moving when I pressed on the cover. I had previously taped the weatherstripping but only on the top edgewise no change. But I believe it's the issue but haven't gone any further yet.

Latest update, noise is gone. After looking at TSB 6420 I taped up all the windshield weatherstrip seems and there was no change. I them pulled the plastic wiper linkage cover and noticed the weatherstrip on the windshield sides ends at the bottom edge of the windshield and there seems to be a gap under that edge. So I filled that area with about a silver dollar size area of silicone seal. I then ran some universal adhesive backed weatherstrip from that corner all across the underside edge of the winshield. Replaced the cover and made sure it was adjusted tight to the winshield and No more noise. 65 to 100 all quiet.
