Default RUF 996?

Did Ruf ever do a 996 car??

I think they offered a turbo but not a regular 996.

I can't think of any other Porsche they never modified.

They did! It was labeled RGT and was based off the GT3. Lots of goodies on the car including upgraded camshaft and exhaust; it hit about 380HP and had a top speed of 190MPH. It came in RWD but there was an option to AWD as well.

They offered both FI and NA version 996 including a m96 based supercharger version.

Models offered were:
RTurbo
RGT-RS
RGT
RKompressor

There's a member here that has a genuine yellow 996 RGT. He's posted in the pic threads a couple times.

I was thinking if RUF every modified a regular 3.4 or 3.6 NA 996 motor.

If so did they address some of the 996 early issues or have similar issues in there modified cars.

Ruf did have a boxster where they put the 911 3.4 and later 3.6 and called them 3400S and 3600S respectively. I'm not sure what, if any, parts of the engine internals have been modified.

Here are some pics of mine.

Awesome car. GT 3 Motor.

It would be interesting to know what modifications they did. I am sure RUF would have addressed some of the issues.

I agree, but they would have to have been able to first identify potential problem parts on a very new engine.

On the rgt, they seems to have addressed some of the issues later discovered with the fuel pump and the rubber lines. Mine have all braided lines from factory. They however did not identify the coolant fittings issue from factory so I had that done last year as preventative maintenance. They also didn't realize the Porsche lsd would not hold up so i now have a guards.

No, they tried to partner with us back in 2007, we decided to build our own brand rather than coupling with them.

The cars they built generally had engine conversions with larger stock engines. I have 3400S Boxster here now with a failed 3.4 engine. The car is very well built, but it had a factory reman 3.4 996 engine installed that made it 49K miles before failing under the original owner.

In 2007 was RUF still building boxsters with m96 engines?

If they weren't, what were they looking for in a partnership with you?

The M97 is roughly the same power plant, different designation, some of the old problems and some new ones. They did not want to delve into the development of the engine internals, and thats what we do.

I learned long ago that the one ship that will not float, is a partnership.
