Fuel filter location??

On a 1997-2001 Boxster it is under the car in the tunnel where the pipes for the radiators are. If you do not have the car on a lift it takes some effort to get it out, but I was able to do it on my friend's Boxster. They are to be replaced at 60k miles. Jeff

Hi
I am attempting to change the fuel filter on my 996. The picture above shows the fuel filter approximately. On my car it is located in the central tunnel above other hoses 1/3 the way forward between the rear wheels and front wheels. If your car is on jack stands on the rear only, it is a tight fit under the car and difficult to see the filter until you are right under it. I have removed the ground and the forward 'snap on' fuel line no problem.
My problem is with the rearward fuel line. It is a tight fit for my hand and I am not sure if I should twist off or pull? Any help with this is most appreciated.
Thanks

This is an old one and I changed the fuel filter a long time ago. I remember having to press on the button for a quick disconnect attachment. I think I had to loosen the filter clamp and drop it down a bit first so I could get my hand in there.
On a Boxster the coolant lines are in the way, so I had to drop them down as well.

Thanks for the reply. My difficulty is on the other end of the filter. It's a tight squeeze for my hand and I'm not sure if I should twist off or pull. I tried pulling and it was not coming off easily. Any insight on removing the fuel line from the other side. Thanks again.

Start unbolting stuff until you can pull down the filter and get your hand in there. I do remember that I could not get my hand up there until I pulled the filter down.
