No-Sunroof 996
I did a search on the forum, don't flame.
I've been searching for a non-sunroof 996 narrow body RWD. I know it was an option by looking at the options codes.
How rare are these in America? I've seen maybe two in my search over the past few months.

I don't know of a source to tell you exactly how many were produced and sold in the US. I've never seen one in person, and I believe that they are quite rare.

Finding a narrow body 996 without a sunroof in North America is going to be very difficult. To quote the Streather book:
"...finding a 996 without a sunroof is almost impossible."
Unfortunately for you, most buyers in NA will have ordered cars with a sunroof. Dealers will have stocked them, etc... It's the penalty for popularity.

I hate sunroofs too...
There are alternatives- sunroof removal has been done, and is relatively painless compared to other cars. Note that the sunroof panel is between two seals on the body, so bodywork doesn't need to be blended (but you need good a good painter to match the factory paint.)
I've been told that the sheet metal and headliner stuff are readily available from Porsche, or if you're feeling fancy GMG sells a carbon fiber replacement roof panel, which may be in high enough quality to be left clear coated a la E92 M3.
Food for thought.

It was actually the default to get the sunroof. The delete was an option.
In the 13 years of owning our 996 I've never seen another modern (993 on) 911 without the sunroof (not that I hang out at car meet ups).
I regret not deleting it from the Cayenne too. I hate sun/moon roofs. They just bug me, even closed.

I knew a guy once whose cousin's girlfriend's sister's boyfriend's Dad said he saw one once when he was camping in Washington state.....Wait that was Bigfoot.
I've never heard of anyone who has seen one in person.

Did they even have a sunroof to start with? I can't say I've ever seen one with a sunroof (I wasn't including them in my comment above about not seeing another 911 without the sunroof since I thought/think they didn't have one standard).

Not sure, but I have seen GT3's with sunroofs.
