Question Need to get confirmation of Engine change by Porsche

Hello all,

I'm about to buy a 996 C4S 2003 model, in the history the owner show a change in engine done in Germany, but he/I are in France and the invoice (or any other paper) for such change has not followed the car...
How can I ask Porsche to provide me such confirmation?
thanks for your help.

Well in USA the dealerships remove records after a certain number of years. You can see that the car was there but all line items are removed of what was performed.

Get Porsche to check the serial numbers on the engine, if they don't match the car then the engine has been replaced< Wont tell you when or Why of coarse.

they will know. if the car came from Germany one of the previous owners had to get a "certificat de conformite" from Porsche France to get it registered in France. This paperwork requires engine serial #, VIN #, tire sizes, -.. to confirm that all match to a model approved by France

(I used to live in Nice and import cars from Italy & Germany)

If all you want to know is if the engine has been replaced with another one, assuming Porsche replaced it with one of their remanufactured ones, is to get a pic of the serial number off the engine.

I'm not sure in Europe but in the US, all remanufactured engines from Porsche has a special letter in the engine serial number(forget what it is off the top of my head). You can find that info here if you do a search.

I would have them take a pic of the engine block serial number(underneath block on the left side) for starters.

Just got response from Porsche:
The "certificat of comformité " has not the engine serial on it. In adition the Porsche Centers cannot deliver a repair history to someone not ower at the time of the repair as it is forbidden by law (the CNIL).
So only the past owner can claim and can forward to you/me...

If the engine had a Porsche rebuilt engine installed it will Have an "AT" in the serial number.

Like this: M96/03AT66565123

M96/03 = 3.6

AT = Factory Rebuild

665 = 6 cyl, normally aspirated, 2005

"AT", which is not the normal format, might stand for "Austausch", which means "rebuild" engine.

This. Having AT on the oil pan means factory rebuild. Mine has it.
