That is/WAS a sharp looking car. Pity the new owner wrecked it. Although I feel like I could smack him up side the gob, I do hope that he was not injured in the crash.

Probably not his fault then I take it. Dammit that is a bummer. What a rotten thing to happen to a new owner. Hope the Insurance covers the loss and that he buys another 996 to replace it.

This could've been a good opportunity for the new owner to upgrade to your old bumper.

lol....man the bumper you sold me for the 997 i think is gonna get replaced now, couple of months ago a guy backed into at a stop sign, very slow speed, but he was in SUV and kind of pushed the bumper down a bit, so today i took it in finally & the shop says might as well get a new one since his insurance paying for it

All that work on the bumper to make it perfect and some idiot backs into you. At least his insurance is covering it.

Oh man, all that work you did on the 997. Glad you're ok at least since cars are replaceable. What's next?

So after having both a 996 and a 997, what's the verdict? Is the 997 worth the extra $$, or is the 996 a better deal and leaves money for mods?

ended up thinking i'll be nice and economical & get a new car thats up to date with all technology, i got a 2012 C250 Benz..did some mods, while its a great car & all, it just doesn't give me the "pleasure" in driving...so couple of weeks ago i bought a 2001 BMW E39 M5 to have as a 2nd car for fun...its an amazing BEAST...if i had it to do all over again, i would have just bought the Porsche from Insurance & fixed it..i cant' believe i didn't do that it was easily fixable for 10-15k

i loved both, the 997 was more refined & easier as a daily driver, the 996 a bit rough as a daily driver
