Default shifter

Hello folks..,

Sometimes the 2nd gear is not engaging correctly....No grinding noise just not engaging correctly....ant way to fix it?
Of course manual transmission

There are quite a few discussions on this. If you search for 2nd gear pop-out there should be able to find them.
If you are lucky you might be able to fix this by switching out to a slightly smaller detent. It is cheap enough to try even if it doesn't fix the problem and you can DIY with a little patience.

I had one installed when my Indi was upgrading my IMS bearing. It solved my problem which was 2nd gear popping out when cold.

Maybe change fluid first.

Does it happen more when it's cold?

Is it that rubbery feel where it just wont go into gear?

Shop manual says to change the tranny fluid every 90k for MK II (2002+). I assume your model has a similar service interval.

I think 90k is a little long, and changed mine at 45k. It felt smoother afterwards.
Before you start changing and adjusting things, I would change the fluid first.
