Anyone know guage cluster compatibilty offhand for 911?
So I have pixelation on my 01 911 clock thanks to a cold snap here. It would appear no one makes a repair lcd.
So my options would appear to be:
1. Buy a higher mileage cluster on ebay since its impossible to find one around the same (40k) and transplant the lcd (not sure if I'm screwing myself trying that project)
2. Buy a higher mileage cluster and have some people in NYC reprogram it to the real mileage.
3. My question to you experienced guys, will newer clusters plug and play? There are some cooler ones with the white dials, not sure if it will work though.
Anyone done any of the above? Thanks in advance.

Did you call North Hollywood Speedometer or Palo Alto Speedometer?
They should be able to help you or point you in the right direction. I've used N. Hollywood Speedo and they were great.

I sent an email, on the site it appeared they don't support anything for an 01 which is why I asked here but hopefully.

I don't think 02+ clusters are compatible with yours.
You could buy a 00-01 cluster (tip or manual) and take it to someone with the Porsche PIWIS system to change the mileage.
I say call North Hollywood and pick their brain to ascertain if you can swap clusters.

I bought one on eBay with 74K miles on it that I never used, it has silver gauge face overlays on it. Great condition. I decided not to put it in because my can has less mileage on it. If interested let me know, send me a PM.

Talked to NHS, it's a full board replacement so it's $800, I ended up buying a white set on ebay with 60k for $499. NHS says they can change the mileage for $200.
So for $700 I got a nice set with white gauges and the mileage will be correct. I guess replacing an LCD on these isn't really an option at all.

Good update. Electronics are expensive and probably the weakest link in today's modern cars.
I wonder if your local Porsche dealer or an independent shop can change the mileage. You'll save some time and shipping costs.

The right people can take transplant the LCD from another cluster. I bought a bad cluster with a non pixelated LCD and had someone transplant the LCD. I think with the donor cluster and transplant it cost me about $250.
