Default 2003 4S with P0343 error code question & guidance

Hey there, my CEL came on the other day and code P0343 came up as the culprit. I believe this is the passenger side cam sensor that has possibly gone bad? Does anyone have a step by step plan on how to access the sensor and location?

Before the CEL came on I have notice that the car does not start as quickly as it use to which I understand is one of the symptoms of a bad cam sensor.

My set up is a 2003 996 4S with 39K.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

This is the first time I have posted my issue on this site...no smoke/condensate as of yet.

Check the connector and wiring first before replacing -- and as with any fault code clear it and see if it comes back.

In looking at the diagram, the sensor is accessed on top near the intake port and chain box housing. Still not totally clear but I guess I need to poke my head around in there and find it.

Thank you,
Richard

It's pointing/reading the intake cam. It's on the same side of the head that has the scavange pump.
