You couldn't scare me off. Bought a 996!
I've wanted a 911 since I was a kid. I did some research (ok, a lot) and a 996 is by far the most bang for the buck.
I've read the horror stories about folks experiences with these cars. I had a PPI done and pulled the trigger today! Mechanic said the car will need an air/oil separator? eventually and no metal in the oil filter. Thank you for this venue for information and the opportunity to share.
The car drives like a dream, is beautiful and is unique. Look forward to being a member of this forum.

Wow, y'all don't mess around.
What would you like to know? '01 Carerra hard top (black) with 67K miles, paid $25K. Not sure what options are on the car vs what standard equip may be. It does have Xenon lamps (which adjust themselves and is really cool). It also has unique factory wheels that I'd never seen before.
I'd post pics if I knew how...
Thanks for your interest.

Glad you weren't scared off about the issues that so many Porsches have, but often the critics forget about those maladies that every model year seems to have. Welcome to Rennlist, someone will help you with posting pics.

Congrats and welcome to the club. Don't be surprised if you find yourself standing in the garage a lot staring at it. Where are the pics???

Wow, thank you for all your interest and welcoming comments. I figured out how to attach a pic (thanks frisbee91).
Oh and Khaim3... Do it. These guys are right. I practically slept in it last night. Hope that feeling never goes away.

Congrats on your new purchase, beautiful car.
I'm a few steps behind you but in the same boat: always wanted a 911, and now I'm looking for the right one (a 966).
So that's an '01 - is it the 3.4L engine?
I'm really debating the 3.4 vs 3.6 - a lot of info out there about one vs. the other. Some say the 3.4 has more reliability issues than the 3.6, others say that's BS.
Any thoughts on this, as you've probably looked into it a bot before making your decision?

First and foremost, congratulations and welcome, it is a very rewarding experience owning one of these cars. I too wanted one since I was a child, and was lucky enough to buy one earlier in the year. Additionally, this forum is one of the best places to get information and support about these cars, and is a great community, and overall definitely adds to the ownership experience.
Congrats again.
DS
Btw, those look like some type of BBS wheels, maybe BBS Mesh. If you have the wheel off at any point, look on the inside of the wheel and you should see a maker's mark.

well holy crud.....it's a black one !
everyone knows those are the fastest!
NICE - how many trips did you make to the garage to "check on it" last night
I have to admit - after 5 years every single time I get out of my car I talk to her. Most times I just say "that was F'ing incredible, thank you so much...you are one hot babe!"
sometimes I tell her other things, but that is between us
