Default Druck Pressure

Out today and I hear a small "beep". Look down and the oil pressure warning icon is displayed. Looked at the gauge was pegged at zero. Downshifted to get to the side of the road and "pop"...all the way back to five.
2003 996 with 25,000 miles, just had the oil changed at dealer less than 100 miles ago. Took the filter home to slice open and all is well there.
Did something get temporarily stuck in the line or sending unit base? Advice please!

Likely a failing oil pressure sender unit. Very common problem and easy DIY. Just do a search here.

Throw away your old pair of underwear while you're at it. Don't try to wash it.

LOL - same exact thing happened to me last week and I nearly crashed the car trying to get off the road to shut it down. Oil pressure sender unit definitely - could be just a poor connection. It is located behind the oil filter - maybe loose, maybe dirty, maybe needs to be replaced.

That warning is possibly the scariest one yet.

BTW - what is "druck pressure"?

Thanks to all for the help...Travelling this weekend, but will attend to it next week.
I had an older 88 Targa and the oil pressure gauge said Druck Press.
Just a technical term for a very precise measure of "pressure"...

Default Oil pressure sender

Oil pressure sender lives top right side of the engine. Come up from the bottom with a 19mm crows foot on a ball end extension or universal to get the angle.

BTW, when this happened to me the first time, I definitely said something very similar to "Oh druck!"

I always wonder if the high failure rate is due to that pin hole opening that's easy to clog.
