Default Annoying Things about Porsche ownership

After two weeks with the car, there are a whole lot of things I like, but a few annoyances I have observed. Here's my list...

1) Stopped at a light with the top down, people want to talk to you. WTF!

2) Driving down the highway, with the cruise on, you pull into the right hand lane to let a faster car pass. They invariably slow down to ogle and you end up getting stuck behind a big slow moving truck. To make this worse, everyone behind them slows down to ogle and it takes 5 minutes to get around the truck. ( I figured out a solution though)

3) Everyone with a Vette, Nissan Z, or kid in a rice rocket wants to race

4). Ferrari drivers give a respectful nod. Good for them.

5) The gas tank is really small.

Despite these minor annoyances, I love the car. When you floor the go pedal the world stands still. The whine of the turbos is music to soothe the soul.

You need to trade your turbo for a C2 to eliminate some of your problems...I can help you.

+1 for ogling! Not like its a Pagani or something. Its nice, though, that other people get enjoyment out of it even though they aren't behind the steering wheel.

Parking. No matter where you park someone always parks right next to you or in front of you when you have stuff for the trunk. Even when you park in the last (furthest) space from the store.

Valet guy wants to do a Ferris Bueller's Day Off on you. I would not give the keys to a valet person. I would pay for the spot and park her myself.

I haven't had bad brake dust problems. That's been one of the pleasant surprises. The BMW and MB...now they have brake dust problems.

On the parking, I discovered long ago that 3% of the population is narcicistic enough to park right next to you just because they know it ticks you off.

I just look for a wide space and park in it. Of course I live in The land of suburbans and pickups so our spaces are generally plenty wide for a Pcar.

I have valet parked twice. I tell them the mileage and hand them half a twenty when I give them the keys. They get the point. Both times the car is sitting right there next to the door when I come out.

annoys me that everyone wants to tell you their story about "I had this (insert car name here) and had it up to (insert high MPH here) once" - either that or, "I had a buddy with a (insert exotic car name here) and I raced him from (insert two towns here) and beat him in my (insert POS car name here)

I go to the store yesterday, and back into the farthest spot on the end, with the wheels 1/2 inch from the curb. The rest of the parking lot is half empty. As I'm leaving the store and walking back to my car, I see some jerk that just backed his silver 993 turbo next to me. I asked him if he was afraid I was going to ding his door.

The p-car fraternity is great!

Air-cooled and jerk is redundant.

Yes, no matter what I drive, the Turbo, 5, or M3 project car, I can park in BFE and still come out to a Suburban parked next to me (despite the abundance of parking spots closer to the establishment's entrances).

It's true, compact parking spots in Texas really mean 1/2 ton p/u parking.

Michael.

I find it quite annoying that I can't reach the mail in my mailbox from the car with the window rolled down. I have to get out to get the mail. Oh the humanity! Maybe I should sell the car...

I think not.

my fav is still "how many HP has that thing got.....320?....this (insert new GM product) has got 375/380/410) ha....guess you should have saved some money and bought one of these!"

um, yeah....sure bud.

I once got into a stoplight conversation with a GT-R owner. He rolled up and lowered his window....said nice car, so I said you too. Then he laughs and says, well, ya...it's faster than your car!! to which I replied, this is true....but you're still driving a NISSAN. His girlfriend chuckled. I drove off (mildly)

That's funny. I just got back from running a few errands with Mrs. SSST. We were at a light and a ZR1 pulled up next to me and reved his engine.

Mrs. SSST said, you're not really going to ebmarrass him are you? Which is code for act your age.

I responded it was a ZR1 and that the only way I could embarrass him was if he stalled it in first. Her response... "Well he's still driving a Chevy."

That's one badass looking Chevy though.
