Default Flying cargo (beer) from rear seat?

Okay, I have finally found something about the 996 that I find utterly annoying. I was returning from Costco from picking up a couple of things with the top down when I had to brake hard. Suddenly, I was thumped really hard in the back of the seat by the case of beer that I had placed on the folded down seats.

Why in all their infinite wisdom did Porsche remove the little plastic lips that keeps things from sliding forward and into the front seatbacks!!! The 993 has them...

I spent the next 20 minutes in rush-hour traffic with the beer hitting my seat every time I stopped. So much for a nice top-down beer run on a sunny day.

I do have the plastic 'stopper' may be someone removed them on your car.

I added some straps to hold stuff from sliding around.

The Carrera Coupe and Targa have them. The Cabrio does not.

Pages 467 and 473 in the PET ...

I ise the frunk, but you gotta have at least three six packs, or they 'll tip over, should you get jiggy with it.

How did you do that? Just some eye hook screws on the back?

I am guessing that the reason that the cab does not is because there is not enough room for the seat backs to be fully upright if they were in place. The rollbar apparatus takes up a lot of space. I am going to have to rig up something- straps or maybe adapt the coupe/ targa ones to my car.

I will run a search, but is there a rear seat delete option on the 996 cabs?

I just took the rear seat cushion and the centre part off on the one behind driver's seat. Now I can put things on that area without having to worry about the leather.

Part 1 and 5, they were just velcroed to the carpet.

Haven't noticed that but it makes perfect sense. In my car, the seat is adjusted to perfectly allow for a 12-pack to sit on the floor between the driver's seat and the rear seat.

Sadly, Porsche not only got rid of that lip, but also eliminated the tie downs from the rear area of the 911. Big mistake. However, you can make your own (which I highly encourage), to secure your hardware. When traveling, I don't have to think anymore about what's going on back there!
