just curious...how did you come into a need for one? I know how I did on my 944...

944s had pretty weak gearboxes though, I don't think it's common on a 996.

The 996 pinion bearings fail. If it's let to go too long with a bad bearing the ring and pinion eats itself.

Try California Motorsports for a ring and pinion. They build a lot of these boxes and might have spares.
