when will be the big 997 sale event ?
The 997 replacement will be unveiled sometime next year at an auto show and will certainly arrive in the us as a late 2012 model.
I have seen a couple of threads on the 997 forum about really good lease programs on the 997.2. When will it be the best time to ****** a cheap 997 from the dealer... And how much can they take of the msrp during the transition period towards the new model ?
Anybody here made a deal buying their 996 while the 997 came out ?
I really like the 997.2, and I think it reached a great development state. I bet the new 911 will be great but it sounds like EPA regulation and others have messed up with the engineering a bit. I would be fine buying the 'older' model
$30k off MSRP would make me consider it, if not I'd rather simply buy a used one with 5k miles on it.
what do you guy think ?

Porsche noted after the last big sell-off of 997.1's that they were going to manage end-of-year (model) quantities so that never happened again (to that degree). You may need to find a dealer where a 997.2 has been sitting on their lot for a long time before you get a genuinely exciting discount.
Yet...the 997.2's seem to be a sweet spot in model development. Very attractive.

You might get a high optioned car to come down over $20K but $30K probably pushing it.
A car loaded with a bunch of esthetic interior options (carbon/aluminum) has a nice margin built into it.
