rear seat delete
deleted my rear seats, just another reason why no one else except my gf can ride in my car it only took a torex 40 to get the rear seat backs off it only took about 10 min. the bottoms just pop right off, it looks weird not having them there anymore...

It's an easy thing to do, and it does eliminate the need to have 2 persons on the back. Plus it opens the avaiable space for other things. It's also easy to put back together.

I have always thought it would be fun to do the full delete in the rear seat area of my car. I had a '93 RS AMERICA that way.
But on this particular 996 (my fourth) there is full black leather interior, red seat belts fr & rr, and full red stitching all around on everything including the back seats and rear side panels. Seems like a huge waste to have all that and then take it out.
Also, I actually occasionally NEED flat space in the back (when the seats are folded down) because I travel a lot. The folded down seats make excellent cubbies for more stuff. I have also gone to many a swap meet with a folding table that fits quite easily in the back but really needs the "stoppers" on the seat backs to keep it from sliding into the seat backs (more leather and red stitching there, too).
And I often keep a black canvas folding chair behind the rear seat backs. Fits nice there. Area will hold a couple more with no problem. They don't fit in the frunk. And they would flop around if I didn't have the seat backs up to hold them in place.
The RS America had a flat shelf with two opening doors. But the doors were relatively small compared to the openings with the back seats. A very small number of '94 RS Americas had back seats as an option. (P.S. Remember this factoid when taking the Parade Tech Quiz... hint hint).
