New member looking for pricing info

As a side note, if performance is what you're after, go for the 40th Anniversary. It has 28 more bhp than the C4S (316 > 345, due to X51 motor), M030 sports suspension, RWD, LSD, and is around 150kg lighter.
Then again, the C4S's looks are hard to resist, and at the end of the day it's your choice! Good luck.

Look on Autotrader, there are a bunch listed at less than $40K. Good luck, C4Ss are sweet.
(but, the devil on your shoulder might say pony up for a turbo, mine did )

Metropol Blue is a great color. I thought I would never consider a blue interior, but when I saw it I changed my mind. It looks almost black in all but direct light.
Well-optioned car, but that is a FULL price, and I'd be concerned about wear items. Were the brakes replaced? How about the clutch/RMS? With that mileage, you could be coming up on some major maintenance. The selling shop can truthfully say that everything is within spec if the brakes are just above the wear limits, but you'll have a $2k bill within a year.
And I wouldn't be too impressed by tires that are 75%, since that's likely to the bottom of the groove and if you ever drive in the rain you'll replace them long before that. So that's another $700-1500 to spend in a year.
So IMO not overpriced if it's been gone through and is like new on wear items, but closer to $35-36 if it's just a "within spec" car that hasn't had attention.

This is a tough call. I agree with those who say this car is priced too high. ~$35-36k would be about right.
However, this specific car is in very good condition with low(er) miles and a really nice set of options. Somebody carefully ordered this car. If you love Polar Silver (I do) and you like the blue interior $39k may not be too much. Just don't harbor any thoughts of this being a great deal or ever making money on the car. But if this is what you have been looking for... and you have the money to spend, go for it. Buying a Porsche is as much an emotional ideal as it is a rational consumer process. I think sometimes we here in Rennlist land get obsessed with the dollars and pennies a bit too much. That said, don't be a dope - get a thorough and independent PPI and consider negotiating for an aftermarket warranty.
And perhaps test drive a used 997 and check some 2005 prices before you pay this much for a non-turbo 996. I know you like the wide body and all, but 997s are really nice.

IMO Polar Silver was the best 996 color period, bar none, end of discussion.
I like my Metropol blue interior as well. It is quite different from the standard silver ext/black interior car which we see all too often.
My Ideal (but not possible) color combo would be Polar Silver and the Seablue 997 interior color.

For that price - either go to a 997 or look at a slightly older Turbo's. I got a 996 TT w/X50 for $40k. It's worth a lot more than $1k over the C4S...
I was looking for C4S's and ended up coming to the same conclusion (and thus changed my mind).
Sorta the problem with 996's in that price range...it makes it easier to look at newer 997's or turbo's around the same model year. The 996 TT also has a slightly better engine design - which helps as well.
