Need help w/ Blackstone oil analysis info
Hey guys, as the title says, I need some help with the exact info about my car for an oil analysis at Blackstone Lab. My car is a 2000 996 C2 cab. Thanks in advance for your kind help...
Engine Make: (I assume it's Porsche, right?)
Engine Model: (Not sure if it's M96 or not????)
Unit ID: (Is this specific for Blackstone Lab????)

Oh boy, here we go! The obvious answer is "how would any forum member know the exact engine info. for your car?" Sorry...don't need to give you a hard time, but these other guys are tough. ha.
Anyway, my '99 C2 Cab has its original engine, and its a M96/01. As far as "Unit ID" is concerned, I guess they're referring to engine number. Mine's 66W10727, and my source of info. is my car's Certificate Of Authenticity, and I have confirmed this info. by an inspection of the engine's block stamping.

You guys are reading too much into this...
Porsche
M96
"Whatever you want"--This is just to help you keep track of different results in case you have multiple Porsches.
I believe there's a portion of their site that explains this, but I've gotten multiple reports from them and the unit ID is really nothing.

Thanks guys, greatly appreciate it... I will look for the engine # but I also think it's overkill for this kind of oil analysis. I just want to get this out tomorrow. Thanks a lot...

You don't need the engine number. Typically people use the year and model such as 2000996 in your case. It just identifies your engine on your account with Blackstone. Unless you plan to be buying a lot of engines or cars of the same model and year, it's a non issue. Pick a number you like.

I've never used Blackstone Labs, I don't even know if their UOA reports give any recommendations based on the type of engine.
If you've not decided on Blackstone already, I recommend Dyson Analysis' Premium Kit. It's pricey but very detailed. Terry Dyson is the best and can give you very specific information and advice. You can even email him and ask him questions, he's a very nice guy and extremely knowledgeable.
