Koni Yellows?
Used Koni yellows in my past autox cars, didn't realize they made them for the 996! Any experience with the adjustable Koni Yellows on a 996 yet? Tire rack has them in stock. Can I use them with my m030/m095 suspension on my 40th anniversary? I'm hoping that a full stiff koni will be stiffer than my m030/m095 now...

I was going to try them on my C4 last spring when they were on sale at 25% off. Looked at both the adjustable and the FSD, but then I found out that Koni does not make a fitment for the C4, only the C2. If you check with the 993 owners many seem to rave about the Koni's, particularly the FSD;s which are supposed to be softer over harsh roads and firm up when needed.

who else sells koni shocks for the 996 besides tirerack? did they have it on sale?
i'm really only interested in the koni yellows (the "sport" shocks) for autox purposes, but the FSD sounds cool.

you can use FSDs or yellows with the factory spring. it would require a shock install and realignment which is a little more work than a coilover install since you need to have a spring compressor, etc to remove the spring from the old shock.

Spoke with Paragon a few weeks ago and he was touting the FSD's for the 996 so if it's not on his site I'm guessing it's not updated or an oversite.
So Balefire, if the shocks are about $1000 what's your guess on what the labor would be?

changing the shocks should be about 4-6 hrs labor. i've paid 200-400 in the past for my other cars. i expect for this p-car, a little more.

the yellows still aren't searchable on the koni website or if you pull up a 996, but they are on the featured product flash animation on the main webpage. I called Chuck at Paragon and he verified that they are adjustable via the **** as opposed to the kind you have to uninstall (like on 944s). The picture on the koni website also reflects this...so I am about to order a set!

tried that when I saw the ad in panaroma. they don't carry it.
google search does have a couple lesser known places that are selling it now for a little cheaper. e.g. jdmultimate, autopartsdealer. looks like more and more places are starting to carry it.
here's the official PDF from koni on the new koni yellows for the 996. koni search didnt' find it, but google did.

i'm excited someone else is going to try them. if all goes well with your install, i will be installing those for the next autox season as well.
that is great that they are externally adjustable. on my rx8, the front koni yellows were external, while the rears koni yellows were not. since i'm not mechanically gifted, that meant the rears never got adjusted.
besides confirmation of the external rebound adjustment, i'm also curious if the ride height changes. hoping it lowers it a smidge (fingers crossed) as opposed to the contrary. if you use your stock M030/M095 anniversary springs, can you measure the ride height before and after the change? thanks!

Saw these on eBay today.

The FSD's. I think this is a pretty good price. A few months ago Koni was offering 25% off but I think that is gone. I don't think these will fit a C4, only a C2. At least that was the case last summer when I checked. Many sellers, including Tirerack had them listed for a C4, but I actually checked with Koni and they were only available for a C2.

I've heard mixed things about the FSDs. They would be okay on a non-competition car, but the whole point of koni sports is the manual adjustment. I ran an autox a couple weekends ago on a really rough lot in my 325, and adjusting the konis really let me dial in the bias of the car. Making a BMW handle loosely is no small feat, either.
It's a huge advantage for a stock-class car because so few things can be adjusted on the car.
I will definitely take pictures and measure ride height before and after the install. I will be reusing the US m030 springs. My 325 didn't experience any ride height change; we will see on this car.
I also totally agree about the non-externally adjustable konis. Rears on the 944 were that way. By the time I took them off to adjust, the bump rubbers were stuck so hard in the shock that I couldn't get them out in order to compress and adjust them. Oh well.
I actually don't know when I will be able to install them. I am going to be busy in November and plan on road tripping the 911 up from FL to NC for Thanksgiving. I would hate for the car to be at the shop workbay taken apart because I hadn't finished and aligned it yet.
