How long to remove headlight switch?
Once again I'm out of town so the 996 is at the airport but I found out that my headlight switch arrived at home this morning.
So my question is, how long does it take to remove/replace this thing? From what I've read it's a simple prying out procedure and plugging in the new one - or is there something else involved that will turn this job into a 4-5 hour process?
The main reason I'm asking is because if it's quick I'll tackle it when I get home on Wednesday night. Otherwise it might have to wait until the weekend.
Damn lights took about 25 tries to turn on this morning!!!

Forgot to add.....
P/N is 99661353500 and roughly $100
As far as a DIY, It's very easy.
*Remove Headlight switch
*Remove A/C vent
*Remove Headlight Switch Assembly from A/C vent
*Remove Headlight switch assembly from wiring harness.
*Reverse steps

Great! I ordered it from Suncoast too. I was going to order from Paragon but called Suncoast and found that they were cheaper than even a third party. What a pleasant surprise. Now if only my local dealer could match those prices...

Very welcome. Isn't it amazing that your local dealer won't "deal"? I have tried and keep them them I will continue to spend the thousands of dollars I do over the years at Suncoast, etc.. What a shame they don't want to make something. Greed.

One tip... to remove the plastic rotating switch (in order to gain access to the big center nut), you need to place a small flat head screwdriver on the 6 o'clock opening of the switch while pulling towards you. The screwdriver releases a retention ring inside this switch. Make sure you insert the screwdriver with the flats oriented on the sides... like this: /\ ... that way you will push the ring upwards for release.

I'll report back tomorrow night on the outcome of my try at this.

I got it done!
It took me about 45 minutes because I had a few tool issues and a couple of little hurdles:
- I didn't realize the vent screws were the torx-style so I had to hunt for my tool which took me a little while
- The race that holds the switch itself is a HUGE nut so I needed to find a socket that fit it properly.
- There is an extra screw beneath the housing on the switch that needs to be removed before the plastic vent housing can be moved
- You don't have a lot of room to work with if you don't feel like disconnecting the air vent
But once done I was able to turn my lights on and off at will so chalk another up as a success!
Oh and I have to publicly thank Sunset Porsche for excellent service AND a few extras like a calendar and a couple of magnets in my package. Just when I was about to purchase a calendar and I get one for free. So two thumbs up to them!!!
