Alarm remote won't disarm after days of sitting
Maybe this is normal: my car sat in the garage for 9 days, locked with alarm armed, while I was on vacation. When I got home, the wireless remote wouldn't disarm the car or pop the trunk. I had to use the key unlock the door. Not sure if the alarm would have gone off, but I stuck the key in the ignition and turned it on within 10 seconds just to be sure it wouldn't.
Normal? I haven't searched the archives, so flame me if it's already there.

Lol!
Yes, yes, I knew I'd get flamed a bit for something which I thought was normal and most likely in manual. But thanks for dishing out the info anyway!
In my defense, I don't have the manual with me, and the pdf I downloaded from one of you posters is corrupted. Need to download again after I dig up the link in some obscure email I archived somewhere...
And I'll make sure to send Ed my key first thing! Thanks buddy!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I am having the same problem. It worked fine last year ... but this year it doesn't seem to.
Battery died over the winter. (house circuit breaker on the trickle charger died and I didn't check!). So I have to replace the batter. Of course the car is locked and the alarm armed and the hood is closed. I did the following
1. Unlocked door with the key
2. Energized the emergency circuit with a 12 V battery
3. As soon as I do, the alarm goes off
4. According to the manual you just need to lock and unlock the door with the key to reset it. It doesn't work ... alarm won't shut off. Neither does putting the key in the ignition.
Could the key have "de-programmed" itself?
Could the key battery be low? (My kid plays with the key and misplaced the second key somewhere). Red LED on keyfob still flashes when button is pushed though)
Thanks in advance!

Follow up ... All good now. My son hid the second in an old CD changer in the audio cabinet! Glad I found it when I did because the alternative was towing the vehicle to my mechanic for a key reprogramming.
I repeated the steps as listed in the owner's manual with the second key and it worked exactly as stated.
Turns out something is wrong with the first key. I will have to get my keys reprogrammed but otherwise all is fine. The car is back up and running - refueled, washed and vacuumed and out for a short drive!
