Default FS: MY00 996 C2 with New Engine and Warranty

I'm looking to get into a GT3 but the wife says I need to get rid of my car first. This is a daily driver with track duties. It has a bunch of extras, a new engine, and 2 warranties (engine and aftermarket) - both good for 9 more months. The car is not pristine, but the price reflects its flaws.

Here is the most pertinent info:
  • 2000 C2 996 6-speed
  • Silver with Grey interior
  • Just over 76,000 miles
  • New [not reman] engine installed by Ruf at 59,500 miles in March 2008
[Diagnosis: engine grenade due to timing chain failure]
  • New engine warranty until March 2010.
  • Bumper to Bumper aftermarket warranty good until 4/22/2010 or 86,000 miles ($50 deductible) (should be transferrable for a fee).
Car has been updated and maintained by Ruf including religious oil changes, brake flushes, scheduled maintenance etc. Car is currently set up for track use, but I have all stock bits.

Track Mods:
  • PSS9
  • GT3 rear sway bar / HR front sway bar
  • Cobra Imola II Seats (driver and passenger)
  • Scroth 6 point harnesses
  • 3rd radiator
  • GMG roll bar
  • Full Ruf body kit
    [Front Bumper]
    [Side Skirts]
    [Rear Wing]
  • GT3 brake ducts and brake scoops
  • PFC front 2-piece rotors with PFC-06 pads.
  • PFC-97 rear pads with stock rotors
  • Fabspeed muffler bypass
  • BM shortshift
  • 1 set: 5-spoke 18" wheels (AM)
  • Extra wheels available:
1 set: turbo twist 18" wheels (AM 8X10)
1 set: turbo twist 18" wheels (AM 8.5X10)

Other
Stock parts:
  • Stock suspension
  • Stock sway bars
  • Stock power seats
  • Stock mufflers
  • Stock front bumper and internal air scoops

A few other minor mods:
  • V1 hardwire
  • Parrot Bluetooth
  • Bumper plug
  • Clear markers
  • Homelink hack

New Euro bumper with bumperette delete as car was dinged in the right rear last year. Only damage was to the rear bumper cover and tial light. No contact with impact guard behind bumper.

I have some pics posted when the car was in top notch condition [LINK].
(Before Pics)[LINK]
[The car would need a serious detail and the Ruf front bumper needs a respray to look that pristine again. Exterior has a few rock chips as well. ]

Summary:
MK1 996 with updated engine still under 2 warranties. This is a GREAT daily driver that is very capable at the track. When washed and polished up, it is still a looker. However, it is not in concours condition, but mechanically it is sound (since most of the major components are new) AND still has a warranty.

I have title in hand and need to move this quickly to facilitate my other deal, so the prices are:
  • $26.5K as currently setup and all extras are yours. [Wheels, stock parts, etc.]
  • $24.5K with suspension, but without track goodies (minus the GMG roll bar, Cobra seats, extra wheels, harnesses, camera mount, fabspeed)
  • $23.5K if you also remove upgraded suspension parts (i.e., PSS9 and sway bars) - this would put you pretty close to factory, but with the Ruf Aerokit, new engine, 3rd radiator, both warranties, upgraded stereo and the few other mods listed above.

Stock front bumper is yours either way, and it's already sprayed to match.

PPI welcome (Dallas has 2 dealers, Ruf and a number of indy shops nearby)

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests for photos. td873@yahoo.com

Thanks for looking.

Tom

GL with the sale. It shouldn't be on the market too long at that price.

Sorry to see this car go. Your 996 track knowledge and input will be missed when you move up....

BUT congrats on making the move to a GT3.

Tom,

Do you have GT3 control arms and toe links on the car?

Thanks Andy. Still a lot of moving parts, so moving up to a 3 is hanging in the air. But, it would really be less complicated if my wife didn't mind me having 3 cars. And, if it doesn't work out this time, there's always tomorrow

I do have the front GT3 control arms. They are reverse mounted for extra camber. I don't remember the actual alignment numbers now, but should be around -2.5 front and -2.0 rear (or something like that). I didn't get around to putting on the toe links though.

I also should have mentioned that the car has the X51 oil pan as well.

Tom, the fact that it's not in concours condition is hardly a flaw! And silver is an easy color to renew with the right materials and technique.

I'm just guessing that the amount of money you have put into the car exceeds your asking price, so what you really want to say here is that the price reflects the cost of all of your upgrades, and that you're throwing the car in for free!

Good luck, and hurry up and get that GT3! I've been waiting for you

Great marketing idea! Free car - you pay for upgrades only! lol.

Drool Congrats on your ride, that think looks like a beast! It looks like you and me are the only ones skipping spec boxster...

Heh, since we just had our first baby in May, my wife isn't going to let me into a Sweet Ride 997_3 like that! I suppose I could wait a year and do it then, but I got a hall pass to get a 996_3 now, so I'm trying to strike while the iron is hot. I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with a 6_3, and the prices have started to crater on them.
