Default 996 "Stored code not active"

Hello all! I'm looking at a 2004 996 C4 Cabriolet and got a PPI from our local Porsche dealership. Minor stuff of course but the only one that gave me real concern was "received positive fault code P1341 Bank 1 (signal implausible)"
When I raised this with the seller (a used car dealership) they went away and came back and said "Car has been scanned it's just a stored code not the active code". I've had a succession of Boxsters but this is my first 996 so I'm not entirely sure if this is complete BS to make me think there's no issue or whether there is something quirky with 996 codes. I'm beginning to think it's BS and I should walk away....

Thanks for any help any of you can! I've been reading these posts all winter as I build up to a 996!

Cheers

Neil

Good luck and congrats on the search!

As for the P1341, I just had this CEL and from testing, I narrowed it down to a faulty they variocam hydraulic actuator. I ordered the parts from FCP Euro for under $300 and it's about a 1-2 hour job to replace. I took a 100 mile fun drive yesterday with no CEL or symptoms present. Overall, I'm not sure I would let that keep me from buying the car if all the other boxes are checked for you.

Here is a good thread on P1341 https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...530-p1531.html
All codes can be erased or deleted. Stored codes and active codes. You need more information and a better mechanic.

Thanks! I'm not mechanically minded but know a good Porsche mechanic from my Boxster days.

Really it's all about whether I take the risk (with a suitable price adjustment) or pass on this one. The dealer is obviously only motivated to sell and not motivated to be my mechanic!
