Default Durametric question?

I just got the Durametric kit and plugged it in to my 996. There's no fault codes for the DME or tiptronic, but whenever I try the instrument cluster or airbag all I get is a "module failed to initialize". Am I doing something wrong or is this a software issue? Any experienced Durametric users? Thanks, Kent

I just got the airbag light a couple of days ago. My nearest dealer is 1.5 hours away and they wanted $100 per hookup of the scanner. I'm trying to find out what's causing it so I can replace the selt belt buckle, etc.

It's a '99. I chose the first DME selection.

You need to choose Airbag.

I did choose Airbag. I tried 'Airbag' and 'Instrument Cluster' but got the same 'failed to initialize' response. It was connected properly with the green power light and saw no fault codes for the DME or tiptronic; just unable to check the fault lights. Thanks, Kent

It turns out that you can't access the instrument cluster info unless your car is an '02 or newer. Still sorting out why I can't read the airbag module. Durametric though has been helpful trying to sort it out. I'll post the results when I find them in case anybody else has similar issues.

I picked up a durametric about a month ago and I have the same problem. I can only connect to the airbag, ABS and A/C controller. I get the same "module failed to initialize" and the red light won't go out when I try the DME or alarm. I've talked to Owen at durametric support and we can't figure out why.

I believe that the DME, alarm, and trannsmission are on 1 circuit and the other has the airbag, ABS, and A/C. Looks like we have similar issues, just with the opposite circuit.

Kent,
I had the same problem (to far away from a Dealer and the cost of them 'hooking up to my car') so I bought this unit.....no problem; told me what was wrong (driver seat belt) I cleaned it, and cleared the code and the light went off (this was back in April of this year). My Axel is a 99 C2. I've had a couple of chats with the folks at Durametric and they have been VERY helpful.
Good luck on your fix,
Patrick

I too get the 'Failed to initialize' when trying to "reach" the airbag control unit. Any news on what could be causing this? I too have an airbag light on, but having trouble resolving the cause...

I know this is an old thread, but I seems to encounter the similar problem when I trying to access the airbag light.

Does OP ever resolve this problem? Or any member would like to share?

Thanks!
