Default Transformation Complete: MKI Aerokit Installed!

At long last I finally got my aerokit wing, skirts, and bumper onto the car. I could not be happier. It doesn't even look like the same car...I love it.

The bumper was a new oem unit sourced from an ebay vendor at $860 (which included shipping), the skirts were oem and from sunset at $730 (including shipping), and the rear wing was from MASHAW and ran $1350 including shipping. I found a great painter (who was familiar with porsches and aerokits)who did everything for $1200. The grand total was $4,140. I did the install myself to save a little money, and found it was not that hard at all if you take your time. The skirts were probably the most difficult, given that I did not want to screw up the 3m tape placement. If there is any interest I may write up a diy since I took some pics during the install.

my painter was pretty impressed with the rear wing...said it was one of the better replicas he had seen (still needed sanding and primering...but no fittment issues at all). Kudos to Mike at MASHAW for putting out a great product! Here are the pics:

Fantastic...looks gorgeous. I don't see too many aeros on that color. Paint work looks great.

Best,

Thanks for the compliments guys! Vwrado, you are right, I've got 15 mm H & R spacers on the rear wheels...really helps fill out the wheel well in my opinion.

Scott welcome to the MKI Aerokit team, it looks great.

Now for a couple of pieces I do not see in the pictures that you must get to complete it:

Front Spoiler: goes under the front bumper (you can see mine just barely in my signature picture) - 996-505-986-00 (@$80)
Rear Spoiler (aka Gurney Flap or Wicker Bill): goes on the lower part of the wing (refer to my avatar to see mine - I kept it black) - 996-512-988-00 (@$280)

Both of these items are designed by Porsche to work with the kit for downforce etc.

Wow, that does look great! Kinda pricey, but I can't say you're nuts.

One thing I've always noticed about the aero kit is that if you look at the side skirts directly, they look kind of strange, but if you look at them relative to the rest of the car, they look perfect.

One thing about the side skirts that bothers me is that they're taped on--are the factory aero package skirts attached like that? It just feels so...wrong.

Tooloud10, thanks for the compliments. Yeah, the price was a bit hard to swallow...but I actually thought I did good compared to what it coud have run. I posted te prices primarily to give a reference to those who are looking to get a 996 and think they might want the aerokit. One would probably be in better shape finding a car with one already, unless the car is just a steal.

Regarding the skirts, the oem units are fixed pretty firmly at the sides (screws) and all along the length of the bottom (about 8 or 9 screws that go into clips that attach to the body). The tape just holds the top of the skirt flush (or technically, almost flush) to the body. There is a small space there, but it absolutely does not bug me and they seem very firmly attached.
