996 hard to start after fueling
My 2000 996 is hard to start immediately after refueling and only then. I have to pump the gas while cranking in order for engine to fire up. I recently purchased durametric diagnostic software which shows a fault of P0440 fault code 93 "Fuel Tank Ventilation System." Unfortunately the software will not diagnose this any further. Has anyone else experienced a check engine light with this fault code, and how do I fix a problem like this? Thanks for all your help.
note: my gas cap was changed years ago due to a recall by porsche.

hmmmmm.... no idea... but some p car owners have cars that are pretty picky when it comes to certain type of gas..... i don't know how they know... but have you tried using a different type of brand of gas....? just a thought........

p0440 charcoal cansiter shutoff valve. not related to the fuel cap.
clear the fault. if the fault comes back you will need to get further into it
how many miles are on the car

I currently have 26,000 miles on car. I did clear the fault and will wait for it to come back, but the starting problem at the gas station, ( I have tried different gas and added fuel while there was different levels in my tank) is getting worse. I fear one day it wont fire up. Thanks Brad

No, I drive it every day to and from work. It's only about 12 miles a day, some more mileage on weekends but as you can see not much mileage overall. Could that cannister cause the starting problems after fueling?
