A 275/ on an 11 inch wheel? Isn't that stretching things a bit too far? I've got 285's on 11's and they look silly. 295 is better, 305 better still. When you corner hard with those 275's do the rims scrape on the ground?

DJ.......youre not being a wise *** again are you.....with aluminum scraping???!
I have been running 275/18 Hoosiers on 10.5 or 11" by rear 18s wheels for the last several years with several PCA club race wins and great success. I just want to sell an etra set of FIKSEs FM10s as I have 4 full sets of 18" wheels tires... and thats alot of cash tied up in 16 mounted 18" wheels & tires. All the seriuos track PCA/POC stock class racers run this setup on 993s as it is the best combo in terms of balanced handling.......305 can potentially fit but with 245/18"hoosiers up front I virtually guarantee you the 993 will understeer like a horrible pig and you be definetely alot slower after taking laptimes before & after as you wont be able to get hard on the gas before the apex and ultimately just have to wait until the 993 turns enough or pitch it or do something to get it rotate enough for an early strong throttle app point. I just remind you to think of stock new average 993s with 205/17s front with 255/17s rear and what that mess would is on race day even on race rubber. Even 225/18 with 285/18s is understeer city...you can only mess with swaybars and airpressure so much.

Joe,
Have you ever tried to get a 275 up front. I went to a 275 front 305 rear set up and the car was great. Ran my best laptime and qualified 2nd in my last race. Just a thought.

No, Joe, not trying to be a smartass. I just thoght that a 275 would fit best on a 9.5" inch wheel, not an eleven.

Greg, is that a 275/35 or 275/30? How low is your car? Is that on a 9.0 or 9.5 inch wide front wheel? I'm assuming you rolled the fenders? Which tire? I was planning on trying a 265/35 & 305/30 combo, but if the 275 fits, then I may make the jump.

DJ,
I run 9's and 11's. The car is pretty low, at least an inch lower than the euro M030 if that gives you any idea. I have the fender's rolled, but I haven't done any grinding on them which may happen this winter. Not much room but my suspension doesn't deflect much since I have 700lb springsin the front and 850 in the rear. I run the Hoosiers which are fairly wide 275/35 they don't make a 30 series tire. The rears are 305/30's. The Hoosier guide recommends between a 10-11" for a 275 and 10.5-11.5" for a 285. Hoosier really has a limited selection of tire sizes compared to street tires from Pirelli, etc.

Greg on a 993 275/18s front and 305/18 rear... JESUS H CHRIST.......how did you do that? I can mount 305 rear and with 275s up front will probably shed 2 seconds at many tracks with that combination. You must have MASSIVE velcro like grip. Nice car I will post a picture of mine tommorrow,. over & out.

I should have kept quiet, it might have been the only advantage I had over you One of the guys in my Porsche Club did that on his 993 with forgeline 3 piece wheels (after every one said you couldn't)and I got lucky and found a set of used wheels (BBS Mags) that worked. I am having a set of my Kinesis wheels (k-58's) re-worked to make them 9 and 11's in the right offset by forgeline, I never asked what exactly works but if you want Steve Schardt's number give me an email.
I ran the last club race with 245/285 through the practice and the enduro and switch to the larger size for the sprint and qualifing and I picked up two spots and close to a second at a short track.

The pics are my former street car and I ran the 245/285 on it. I will post some pics of my race car after EJ takes some pics with his digital for me since I am very technology impaired.

Greg, I imagine the folks from Trakcam are going to be there too. They take great pictures and make prints for you (up to poster size) on the spot - pretty neat.

I think this is your car from MId Ohio???

If you have a laptop, bring it and I can give you your pictures on the spot. If not I can put them on CD and send them to you when I get back.

EJ,
Not that is my friend Jerry's. He races a C4S. I think you meet him at LMS last December.
I found a picture of my car on their site, hopefully it will show up ok.
